If you have ever hired an older car, you have probably had the same thought we would have. How well has this thing actually been looked after? Here is our answer: the same family that hands you the keys owns the workshop that services it.

Our own workshop looks after them

Servicing does not go out to a stranger and it does not get skipped when we are busy. Every car comes off the road at 10,000km for a full service before it goes back out.

It is why an older car from us drives like a car that has been looked after. Because it has. It is also why we are comfortable hiring out a 2013 Corolla at a 2013 Corolla price, rather than quietly retiring it and charging you for something newer.

The car you book is the car we hold

You book a make, model and year, and that is what we put aside for you. Where we have several of the same model the registration may differ. And if we ever have to move you onto something else, it is to a newer car. Never an older one.

How it started

Cars have been hired from this corner of the North Shore since 1989. Today it is a husband and wife team, with a manager who has been here fourteen years and knows most of the fleet by the sound it makes.

What you get that the big ones don’t give you

Hire from one of the big brands at the airport and you queue, you pay something like $190 a day, and someone hands you a key. Nobody shows you anything. You work out the heater in the car park in the rain.

We walk you round the car. We show you how it works, what the noises are, and where everything is. It takes five minutes and it is the difference between hiring a car and being handed one.
